Arkenstone: Symphonina No. 1 (Dreams Carried On Fire) was performed by Budapest Scoring Orchestra with Peter Illényi conducting. Thank you to The Symphonina Foundation for this invitation to contribute my classical piece.
A Symphonina is a complete melodic symphony that plays in 10 to 12 minutes with 3 or 4 movements, each the length of a typical streaming pop tune. In this new format, the Symphonina makes symphonic music more accessible to today’s audiences, especially younger generations who listen to music on streaming platforms, cell phones, and earbuds. The Symphonina Foundation seeks to promote opportunities for new audiences to enjoy, perform, compose, and learn about symphonic music with the mission of spreading the joy of “symphonic music to young audiences around the world.”
Regarding his Symphonina No. 1 (Dreams Carried On Fire), David Arkenstone says, “Ever since my teenage years, I have been captivated by the space program. The power and majesty of the fire and the rockets, coupled with humanity’s lofty aspirations, have long represented a thrilling and inspiring legacy. When the opportunity arose to compose a classical work, these images and emotions immediately came to mind, and I was eager to express in music the sense of wonder and inspiration they have always stirred in me.”
